1.2 Create New Customer

 

 

To add a new customer, click on the ‘Add new Customer’ button on the Customer List page. You can also do so by clicking on the ‘Create New Customer’ links from the main menu or side menu.

 

1.       The fields in dark grey are compulsory. The rest of them are optional.

2.       The ‘Customer ID’ is automatically generated by the system. You do not need to key it in. (In the screen above, the automatically generated ID is CUS10)

3.       ‘Customer No’ is the number that identifies this customer in EMAS Accounting & Inventory.

4.       Fill in the ‘Company Name’ by entering it into the text box.

5.       Click on the ‘SEL’ button next to the ‘Currency’ field to select the currency for this customer. If you do not select a currency, the local currency will be used.

6.       The ‘Customer Discount’ field defines the discount automatically applied to sales orders for the Customer if the ‘Pricing Option’ is set to ‘Discounted Price’.

7.       The ‘Sales Person/Agent’ field defines the employee designated to serve the customer. This also ensures that this customer record will always be visible to the chosen employee, should there be any viewing restrictions. (If viewing restrictions for customer list is set, only the customer’s sales person or a user with full access will be able to see the customer’s record. For more information on viewing restrictions, refer to 7.6 System Settings)

8.       The ‘Pricing Option’ has 2 values by default:

o        Discounted Price – With this option, placing a sales order for this customer will automatically apply the ‘Customer Discount’ value that is defined for this customer.

o        Last Price – Selecting this option will automatically apply the last purchased price for a particular product for this customer when placing a sales order. If no previous purchases are made, the price for the customer will be defaulted to 0.

o        If the customer has a ‘Currency’ defined, this option will be defaulted to ‘Last Price’.

o        If you do not select an option, ‘Discounted Price’ will be entered by default.

9.       Fill in the rest of the fields as required.

10.   Click on ‘Save’.
